On July 7, 2003, Michigan State Trooper Kevin M. Marshall was shot in the line of duty. He had served on the Michigan State Police Force for 8 years and was 33 years of age. He is survived by a wife, two children, his parents and his sister.

About Kevin

In the fall of 2004, the City of Newaygo donated land to create a beautiful park in memory of Trooper Marshall and to commemorate all police officers in the State of Michigan who die on duty while protecting the public. As part of this project, the committee desired to put in a sculpture of Trooper Marshall. Tony Frudakis of Hillsdale College was first approached and helped the committee to decide upon components of the sculpture and the pose, then Ginger Hadd was enlisted to finish the design and make the life-sized sculpture.

Trooper Marshall's family, friends, committee members and State Troopers worked with the artist to ensure accuracy and to get a close resemblence to the trooper and his children. Their generous support and encouragement throughout this project is deeply appreciated by the artist both personally and professionally.

The piece is expected to be installed mid- to late August of 2008.
